Translational Workforce
Development (TWD)
TWD trains researchers to turn discoveries into real‑world solutions,
accelerating the path from innovation to implementation
About TWD

![]()
TWD refers to the process of training and equipping academic professionals with the skills, knowledge, and resources needed to translate scientific discoveries into practical applications that improve health, technology, and industry outcomes. TWD is critical to translational research, which bridges the gap between basic science and real-world implementation.
The Florida State University's TWD portfolio of programs include:
- Supporting education and training activities.
- Providing opportunities for trainees, including graduate students, medical students, postdoctoral research fellows, early career investigators, and recently established investigators.
- Developing educational and training programs and mentor networks.
FSU's Translational Workforce Development portfolio of programs is led by Dr. Henna Budhwani.
