About the K2R Scholar Program
Created through the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) Florida State University (FSU) and the University of Florida (UF) partnership, the K2R Scholar Program is designed to create a community of early career faculty and mentors who work together to submit high-impact translational science career development and research proposals to set FSU’s investigators on a path to independence.
Within the K2R program, we house the NIH-funded K12 career development program and support early career investigators in developing K career development proposals (e.g., K01, K23, etc.) and R-level (e.g., R01, R21, R34, etc.) research studies.

UF+FSU K12 Program
The University of Florida and Florida State University (UF+FSU) CTSA K12 Mentored Career Development Program, also known as the K12 Program, prepares emerging investigators to build a successful career in translational research by providing advanced training in clinical and translational research while supporting awardees to conduct their own science to generate preliminary evidence for more advanced trials. The K12 Program supports senior fellows and junior faculty from all departments, as long as the applicant has a focus on translational research to improve the public’s health.

One of our career development preparatory programs, All About Funding (AAF), is open to K2R Scholar Program (KSP) emerging scholars and new FIRST faculty.
For assistance and to register for AAF, please contact Andrea Johnson, MPH. Scholars will not be allowed to register after the series begins.
K-Mock Study Sections
The K Mock Study Section is a practice grant review session that simulates an official National Institutes of Health (NIH) study section for K awards, or career development grants. These sessions provide researchers with detailed feedback on their grant applications from experienced faculty before the official submission, helping them identify weaknesses and improve their chances of funding. Key features include a formal review by faculty, written feedback, and a discussion of the grant application’s strengths and weaknesses.
